Data Science Engineer, Atom Bank

Powerlist Category: Rising Stars

My recent FinTech contributions include leading a data governance initiative at Atom Bank, improving the quality and accuracy of regulatory reporting. This fostered a data-centric culture, impacting colleagues and stakeholders reliant on accurate data. Furthermore, I played a key role in supporting Atom's strategic initiatives. I contributed to the successful completion of a securitisation round, which involved transferring approximately £300 million of liquid assets onto the balance sheet. This strengthened Atom's financial position and enabled further lending and growth. I also supported the expansion of Atom's partnership with Funding Circle, a platform that facilitates lending to small businesses. This expansion resulted in the deployment of up to £150 million in funding to small businesses across the UK, contributing to economic growth and supporting entrepreneurship.

My contributions to diversity and inclusion include mentoring women in tech, supporting their career development and confidence. I've directly mentored a handful of individuals, providing guidance and support as they navigate the tech industry. This includes participating in programs like TechUpWomen, which focuses on supporting those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and Durham University's Career Mentoring Program, which supports first-year students. To further support women at Atom, I undertook menopause training to better understand and address the challenges women may face during this stage of life. I also advocate for greater diversity within my workplace and encourage women in my network to pursue their passions in technology. I believe my efforts contribute to a more inclusive tech environment where everyone feels valued and empowered.
