Your Story:

As Shieldpay's Product Director, Isabel reports directly to the EMEA & UK CEO, and is accountable for everything product related for this fast scaling FinTech. She was brought on to define the strategy; assure delivery of new and maturing products for B2B, B2B2B & B2B2C integrated secured high value escrow payments; and lend her extensive Product experience to grow the team to support global expansion. With more than 10 years of global industry experience, Isabel’s career before Shieldpay spans roles with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Lloyd’s Bank, Banked and Zopa. Beyond her day-to-day role, Isabel is also passionate about inclusivity at a financial and industry level, has contributed to many industry events and publications as a technologist and payment industry expert, is visible and vocal Lesbian leader, and is a member of industry groups: Women of FinTech, Women in Payments, and 17% List.

Your Impact:

Isabel makes it a priority in any speaking engagements to 'say the words' lesbian or LGBTQIA+ as part of her presentations. She didn't see any visible or vocal role models in her career until recently and feels its super important 'say the words'. She also actively organises networking and mentoring events with an LGBTQI+ impact. Isabel also mentors 3 LGBTQIA+ mentees and has spearheaded Shieldpay's participation in the Stonewall Diversity champions programme & training. She has also assured additional medical cover for Shieldpay trans and non-binary colleagues.

Your Advice:

We need your voice and ideas! FinTech products and services shouldn't be designed without them. If you can't see yourself in your immediate company leadership, there are a number of places like LinkedIn, Stonewall and Innovate Finance, where you can find people to reach out to and seek mentor/allyship. The best advice I ever received was to seek out 4 key people to surround yourself with to be successful; a Line Manager, a Mentor, a Champion & a Coach. We are here and want to support you.
