Eric Van der Kleij
Partner, Edenbase
A former U.K. Fintech entrepreneur (Adeptra - sold to FICO) Eric has been contributing to the U.K. technology scene for over 30 years. The challenges of entrepreneurship led him to devote over 10 years of his career to working for the U.K. Government on entrepreneurial inward investment and tech entrepreneurship, ultimately becoming an adviser to the U.K. Prime Minister (Cameron) in 2012, where he created and led the UK’s famous Tech City/TechNation initiative, feeding in to policy and supporting the growth of approximately one third of the UK’s unicorns.
Eric then rejoined the private sector where he created London’s famous Level39 Fintech hub, supporting the growth of many of the UK’s Fintech unicorns.
Today Eric co-leads the EdenBase “Active Innovation” VC fund and ecosystem, investing in and supporting the next game changing companies that use emerging technologies for sustainable supergrowth.
Always staying ahead of the curve, in November 2023 he and his team are launching TransformBase.com, a new Platform and annual event shaping emerging technology to help ensure a prosperous world, which will feed into policy and create actionable roadmaps for powerful emerging technologies such as Generative AI and Quantum Computing. Eric was a founding volunteer advisory board member of Tech London Advocates/Global Tech Advocates and continues to support this important grassroots community.
