David Riches
Deputy Director at the Department for Business and Trade
David is a Deputy Director within the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), leading the Financial, Professional and Business Services (FPBS) team. In this role, David manages relationships with companies across the financial, professional and business services sector and the engagement of the sector with DBT. This includes working with companies within the sector on domestic growth and policy issues, as well as helping the sector exploit trade and investment opportunities.
David joined the Civil Service in 2020. Prior to joining DBT, David spent ten years as an Executive Director at the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) with responsibility for commercial operations and developing a global network of British Chambers of Commerce. Other roles include as Chief Executive of East of England International, based in Cambridge, and Director, North America for Think London. David has also worked in strategy consulting positions for EY and Cable & Wireless.
David holds a BA Hons Degree from Newcastle University and an MBA from Cranfield School of Management.
